Spend three days hand painting yarn with Cheryl and knitting with Donna in their respective studios in a tiny mountain community surrounded by lakes and rivers. Onsite accommodations include a renovated 150 year old farmhouse, a hired man’s apartment and a guesthouse, all with full kitchens, or rent a cabin on the river nearby. Because of the amount of individual time we want to allow each student, enrollment is limited to 12 participants.
Schedule
Arrival is Thursday afternoon and departure is Monday morning, allowing attendees three complete days to knit and design with yarns they hand paint themselves.
Thursday:
Arrival and settle in.
Evening meet and greet at Cheryl’s farm with catered dinner at the main house.
Friday:
Take a breakfast coupon and go to Parson’s corner, a quaint parsonage turned eatery next to the church just down the street.
Or use the full kitchen in the farmhouse or guest house for coffee, tea and lighter fare such as cereal or toast.

Morning dye workshop with Cheryl at her studio at Cherry Tree Hill Yarn. Learn to hand paint yarn using different techniques with specific projects in mind. Cheryl will rinse and dry your yarn while you take your afternoon workshop with Donna.
Enjoy a catered lunch at Donna’s farmhouse across the street. Then adjourn to Donna’s studio for an afternoon knitting workshop where you will practice stitch patterns with hand painted yarns and choose projects for the fibers and colors you have in mind.
Pick up your finished yarns and take them to dinner at Cheryl’s farm. After dinner, ball your yarn and knit your new hand paints with your housemates in smaller groups.
Saturday:
Breakfast at Parson’s or at your accommodations.
Morning dye workshop with Cheryl at Cherry Tree Hill Yarn. Today we’ll focus on what you wish to dye in terms of fiber and yarn for individual projects that are developing with Donna. Sandwiches and salads will be delivered to the break room at Cherry Tree Hill, available from late morning to early afternoon to accommodate everyone’s dyeing schedules, especially those needing extra time to finish their colorways and yarns.
In the afternoon, tour a local Alpaca farm in West Glover, or spend time on your own taking in the foliage. Pick up your finished yarns at dinner at Cheryl’s farm and prep them for the next morning’s workshop with Donna.
Sunday:
Breakfast at Parson’s or at your accommodations.
Today work on projects you’ve developed with Donna, using the yarns you dyed in Cheryl’s workshop. Enjoy a catered lunch at Donna’s farmhouse.
